Thornhill
Woods Daycare
is a new licensed
establishment, located conveniently in the Thornhill Woods
area. We provide a home-like setting and a safe and comfortable
environment, which makes our daycare the perfect place
for children to play, laugh and discover. |
| Our
Goals Include: |
Nurturing
each child's unique qualities and potential through physical,
intellectual, social and emotional development. |
Through
our well-trained and caring teachers, we strive to provide
a safe and developmentally sound environment. |
Enforcing
a comprehensive curriculum based on age-appropriate learning
activities |
Encouraging
learning through different means of activities and programs,
targeted to your child's specific needs. Each child learns
differently, whether they are a visual, verbal, logical,
musical, physical, extrovert or introvert learner, our
daily activities satisfy each area. |
| Not
Just an Ordinary Daycare: |
We are certain that we can make a positive difference
in the lives of your children, families, and in
the communities where we live and work. Here are
some of the things that make us more than just an
ordinary daycare: |
Our
smaller facility allows us to focus on each child's specific
needs. Every child is different and unique in their own
way, and we believe that each youngster requires a core
curriculum as well as a personalized learning plan that
suits only your child. |
Our
smaller facility, with only 65 children, results in a
higher staff per child ratio with more focus on each individual
child. Since most daycares hold upwards of 200 children,
their main Staff (ECE) members are forced to be spread
over a much larger child base. The Woods daycare will
only take in 50 full-time children and still have the
same number of main (ECE) staff members in order to give
each child the care they need. |
We
offer the highest safety standards as well as a nutritiously
planned menu of meals and snacks created by our own children's
dietician. All meals are kosher style, nut free and pork
free. |
All
of our staff members are extremely dedicated to caring
for and teaching children. With our experienced staff
in early childhood education, your child will definitely
exceed their potential leaning abilities, and even become
better able to communicate with other children. |
We
inspire and encourage children to learn and grow in many
different ways, making sure to target each of the five
main areas of childhood development. |
We are pleased to offer parents the option of enrolling
their child in our Jewish program. This exciting program
will allow your child to particapate in weekly shabbat
parties and fun holiday celebrations. |

| What
is Child Development? |
| Child
development is a process every child goes through. This
process involves learning and mastering skills like sitting,
walking, talking, skipping, and tying shoes. |
| Children
develop skills in five main areas of development: |
Cognitive
Development: This
is the child's ability to learn and solve problems. |
| How
do we target this area of development?
| Activities
such as building blocks and puzzle making. Fun games include
and shape recognition, alphabet and number games. |
| Social
and Emotional Development:
This is the child's ability to interact with others, including
helping themselves and self-control |
| How
do we target this area of development? |
| Along
with our educated staff, we leave time for group play,
which is essential for this area of the child's development.
Circle time, and our brand new outdoor play area will
also facilitate social and emotional development. |
| Speech
and Language Development:
This is the child's
ability to both understand and use language |
| How
do we target this area of development?
| Our
daily reading programs will indefinitely enrich your child's
language skills. During reading time, children will be
read books appropriate to their own level. They may also
choose from an array of books in our library, for one
of their own liking that will be read to them. |
| Fine
Motor Skill Development:
This is the child's ability to use small muscles, specifically
their hands and fingers, to pick up small objects, hold
a spoon, turn pages in a book, or use a crayon to draw.
| How
do we target this area of development?
| We
find that one of the most anticipated parts of a child's
day is arts and crafts time. During this time, children
will partake in art activities such as making papier-mâché,
drawing pictures, or building small animals and objects.
| Gross
Motor Skill Development:
This is the child's ability to use large muscles |
| How
do we target this area of development?
Outdoor
playtime will improve gross motor skills in your child,
as regular physical activity is proven to be essential
for proper development.
